The Stannage Avenue Residnece was featured in a Houzz article titled "You're Going to Love These Ideas for Dining Space Storage". And yes, we also love the idea of a beautiful, custom oak dining bench that is both comfortable and useful!
Our 12th Street Residence is featured in a new Houzz articled called "Elderly-Friendly Spaces for Loved Ones who Live on Their Own". Recently, we've definitely seen an increase in clients who come to us wanting aging-in-place features, long-term planning, and multi-generation homes. The key is to make universal access features a design element that is enjoyed and used by everyone in the home. We love working with our clients to ensure comfort and ease in their environment for years to come!
Our Waverley Street Residence was just featured in a Houzz article titled "12 Ideas from Stunning Fall Gardens". It's true that the persimmon tree bears brilliant orange fruit, and extends the enjoyment of this courtyard well into the fall season. And it also helps to have architectural elements, such as the exposed carport rafters, echo and enhance the warm tones of fall.
Our Knott Street Residence was featured on Houzz! These phone/pocket cubbies were part of a mud room design that we did to convert a former breakfast nook. Smart storage can be light-filled and attractive, too!
Our Middlefield Road Residence bathroom was featured in a French Houzz article titled "8 combinaisons de couleurs pour booster votre salle de bains", which rougly translates to "8 Color Combinations to Boost Your Bathroom". It's definitely true that the dark-to-light gradation of tile color helps diffuse the intensity of the dark blue floor. Also, using the same tile on the floor and the walls is a little trick we use to make a small bathroom feel much bigger.
Our clients were a big contributor to the playfulness of this project's overall aesthetic, and we're so pleased to see that other people like it, too!
One of Hiromi's Inspiration images just won the Judges' Commendation Award through the AIA National Photography Competition!
Her photo titled "Insertion" of the Chatham Dockyard will be on display at the AIA national conference in Orlando at the end of this month, and will also be featured on the AIA national website. Woot!
We are working with many clients that want universal design features - layout, details, and materials that allow aging and disabled homeowners to continue to live at home - and we are honored to be featured in a Houzz article that highlights this growing priority. While the 12th Street Residence homeowners did not request universal design, the rubber flooring in their kitchen does provide a low-maintenance, slip-resistance surface that works well for everyone living there.
