La Donna Avenue Residence - framing
Framing is up at our La Donna Avenue Residence, and you can start to see how the kitchen and living room spaces will feel. The skylights at the top of the vaulted ceiling will wash the wall with warm light, just as they're doing in this photo.

Amarillo Avenue Residence - foundation

This is a shot of the perimeter foundation at our Amarillo Avenue Residence. The mat slab, which will be the base under our first floor radiant system, will be poured next week. It's nice to see the outline of what will become the house and the garage.
All hands on deck for a design charrette

We recently started a project in Redwood City that has several zoning code limitations, but our team was able to come up with a big pile of inspired ideas.
Clear Skies and Crystals at our La Donna Avenue Residence
Demolition has progressed at our La Donna Avenue Residence!
The contractor, Chris Brooks of CB Builders, has artfully chosen to leave the chandeliers intact - which makes for a glamorous contrast to the destruction happening around them.
This two-story structure will go through a dramatic transformation to become a multi-generational home for a growing family. We're very excited to break ground!
Gilbert Avenue Residence :: inside and out
Here are some photos we took of the Gilbert Avenue Residence, shortly after completion and shortly before move-in.
This home was originally a two-bedroom, one-bath, one-story home. The owners wanted to expand and make it more family-friendly, but the corner lot location meant that we didn't have a lot of buildable area on first floor. We carefully "inserted" a two-story volume into the middle of the one-story footprint, with a central stairway and skylight to help provide more natural light in the center of the plan. The final result a is a brighter, more spacious home that any family can enjoy.
The front living room window frames the magnificent magnolia tree in front.
The central stairway acts as a room divider between the living room and kitchen. This slice through the house also brings in an abundance of natural light via the skylight and clerestory windows above.
These penny round tiles provide a playful accent to the kids' bathroom, and also echos the color of the front door.
While the white and black exterior color scheme evokes a modern farmhouse feel, the turquoise blue front door adds a personal, cheery touch. The staggered volumes and wide roof overhangs soften the overall massing.

Salesforce Transit Center
This looks like a rendering but it’s not - it’s a photo from today, opening day at the San Francisco transbay terminal (AKA Salesforce Transit Center). The cityscape becomes a backdrop to this pocket of elevated nature.
Amarillo Avenue Residence, Deconstructed
Construction on our Amarillo Avenue Residence has begun! The first step is to remove the existing home, so we can have an empty plot on which to build the brand new design. We are so excited that the homeowners chose the route of "deconstructing" the home, which meant that a specialized deconstruction crew would carefully remove each material for potential recycling or reuse. It is by far the most earth-friendly way to demolish a home, and as an added bonus, we get amazing skeletal views of the home in the process. More to come on this project!
Gilbert Avenue Residence photo shoot
Impromptu photo shoot at our just-completed Gilbert Avenue Residence. A lovely day for the lovely house, where the wide roof overhangs provide some good summer shade. This was our second time working with one of our favorite clients, and it was an absolute dream.
